Winter's call has been answered by staying indoors!

Winter's call has been answered by staying indoors and playing guitar!
The DRS-1 is THE lowest priced full-size Martin you can
get your hands on anywhere (yes, including US despite
what you see online, we are priced AT OR BELOW the 'big' guys).

If hangin' out in the basement is your thing then the GS MINI BASS (left) just might do the trick. Back in stock and ready for the stocking.

If you're seeing twice as many DREADNOUGHT JUNIORS in the pic on the right,
it's because we have TWO of the exact same model. Know any twins? Families with feuding siblings that you need to make peace for? How about just having the same guitar in the office as you do at home?

**T.Swift just dropped by today and may stay for a while! (in Baby Taylor guitar form that is.)  This version is electric so we think it looks 'Gorgeous'!

Once in a while old friends stop by the shop and visit us for a while...
Like this Taylor 712e 12-fret guitar that we sold originally in 2014. The condition is excellent, almost like the day it was sold! We think it's eager to come hang out at your place so maybe stop by and say 'hello'?

*SOLD*

Gorgeous Taylor 12-fret Koa and Cedar 714ce LTD in this week:

*SOLD*

You are reading correctly: the posters on our wall promote Taylor's 36-month financing until the end of this year along with Martin's and Yamaha's current promotions! If ever there was a time to get your hands on a new guitar and ease-in the payments without interest for 36 months, this is it!

No longer marooned, the next batch of Islander ukuleles has landed with sopranos, concerts and tenors! New for us is the electric acoustic MC-4-EQ concert model shown above.

Too Hot Uke

This is what happens when a ukulele (or a guitar) is left in a hot environment or direct sunlight:

Sometimes we can save these instruments and sometimes we can't.
Please keep in mind what temperature extremes both hot and cold along with humidity swings from 0-100 can do to your instruments and avoid this situation.

Guitars Under $100

If ever there was a time to go bargain guitar hunting it's here at WMC! We currently have at least five guitars under $100 all fully set up by us and ready to go.

Monday, September 18, 2017

Not often we see an original owner Guild from the 70's up for sale in the shop!
1975 D25 in vintage 'brown/mahogany' finish with an arched laminate mahogany back, solid mahogany sides and solid spruce top. Condition from 1-10 is about an 8.5 (by our eyes anyways). Comes with its original factory 'deluxe' chipboard case. The sound is full, loud and clear with very good balance across the fretboard-this guitar has simply aged well. No structural issues, cracks, bridge or neck angle. WMC recently serviced and restrung awaiting it's new owner.
*SOLD*

What Went Right?

We're often flummoxed by inexpensive, almost disposable student guitars that perform flawlessly and sound great. The 1/2-size Harmony just in for a repair above is a bit rough around the edges but every note plays without buzz and its intonation far exceeds the demands placed upon it.

Although your guitar may appear similar you may not be as lucky-many of these types of student guitars made years ago often suffer from collapsed and or warped necks, lifting (unglued) bridges and buzzing frets not mention intonation issues. Although many parents, grandparents, or friends mean well, instruments for young players need to be both functioning and resilient. Just because the guitar looks like a guitar and it 'just needs a string', it may be unusable or never play in tune or let alone be accurately tuned up. We never charge for assessments and would be happy to assist you in encouraging a young musician's interest with an instrument that's an asset, not an impediment.

We've read there's a downward trend in fretted instrument sales as computer based performance interfaces supersede them. So, we have to ask: would you rather sit here playing your guitar:

or bring your computer to your favorite 'chill-out' spot:
(our former employee Jamie).

Unique Visitors

It's a rare day when an official, handmade in South County instrument walks through our doors for some adjustments:

Jon Campbell bouzouki: 1978, Narragansett, RI
Sounds as rich and full as the man himself! ;)

And this is just guitar bling:
A Taylor K65 12-string in for some new strings. Just gorgeous koa
wood and one of their best designs ever.

Oh, and if you peer around the register back to a little nook
in our uke display area you'll find our newest additions:
Islander Ukes are designed and distributed by
Kanile'a Ukuleles.
Very affordable and rock solid designs bring
a little boutique for a bit less buck!

Maple's Musical Makeover

Maple's Musical Makeover
Maple acoustics haven't been known for their warm, rich tone. Until now. Andy Powers has poured his expertise into revoicing Taylor's maple 600s with stunning results. From specially aged tops creating a played-in sound to bracing that unleashes low-end warmth and sustain, Taylor's 600s suit all playing styles.
